During my first academic term at grad school in the School of Public Health, I was diagnosed with PTSD. Being a paid research fellow, I turned my interest toward healing from my traumatic stress. It proved to be rather lengthy and costly and I lost a lot of momentum -- and gained a key insight. Based on the peer-reviewed research literature most people with PTSD fare even worse than I did!I read enough to write a term paper in the Health Behavior course. By and large, the whole topic of psychological trauma is missing from the 485-page textbook, that mentions behavior 500 times and psychology 300 times. No mention of trauma.
